The German community in Cambodia is excited to launch the Kingdom’s first German Christmas market - associated with the celebration of Christmas during the four weeks of Advent. Christmas markets originated in Germany, and their history goes back to the Late Middle Ages in the German-speaking part of Europe.
For the first time ever, a traditional German Christmas market fair will be held on Phnom Penh’s renown Ice Park on the roof of AEON mall, where ice sculptures, snow and ice machines recreate the typical ambiance of a winter Christmas market for visitors to enjoy during two days in December 2016. Ice skating performances, dancing and singing are part of the flair entertaining the visitors.
The German Business Group in Cambodia (ADW), Aeon Mall, Ice Park, MetaHouse and Goethe Institut and supporters from the German embassy and community as a whole are working together to make this first event a success.
